The expertise of breast imagers and technologists at CCBCC is important to the outcome of your evaluation. Technologists have advanced certification in the mammography registry to perform mammograms and the breast imaging radiologists interpret over 25,000 screening mammograms annually. Our mammography technologists alone have over 360 years of combined experience!

Dedicated breast imagers are full-time at the center and are on-site every day. Their knowledge and expertise bring a unique and valuable perspective to each patient's case.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer among American women, accounting for more than 30 percent of all cancers in women. Through early detection, the number of breast cancer deaths could be lowered if, beginning at the age of 40, every woman had an annual mammogram, had a yearly breast exam by a healthcare professional and practiced monthly breast self-examination.

Unfortunately in our local community, only 34 percent of women actually obtain regular annual mammograms. This means that there are 56,000 women who do not get regular mammograms right here in the Roanoke Valley! If you are one of these women, we encourage you to not become a statistic.
